Greetings Winemakers!
Things are starting to come alive at
the Wineworks and we thought this
would be a great time to bring you
up-to-date on our upcoming
activities.
Here's what's cookin' over the next
few months:
Monday February 28:
Bistro Blanc in Glenelg (www.bistroblancmd.com)
is hosting a Stagecoach Vineyards
(the vineyard where we get grapes
for our Ultra-Premium level wines)
wine dinner. A representative from
Krupp Brothers Winery/Stagecoach
Vineyards will be on hand. The menu
looks spectacular. I think there's
still some room. Tell them your
with Tin Lizzie...no discount...I
just think they want to seat the
rowdies together!
Spring Activities:
Vineyard Manager Rob will be looking
for volunteers for pruning and
fencing in the vineyard this
spring. No dates yet but if you're
interested drop Rob an email at rob@tinlizziewineworks.com
March Activities:
Racking Fall 2010 Wines: All our
Fall 2010 winemakers will be racking
their wines at the end of March.
The best part is that they'll get to
taste their creations for the first
time! It's always a fun event.
April Activities:
Bottling Spring 2010 Wines: Our
Spring 2010 winemakers will be
bottling and labeling their babies
at the end of April. There's
nothing more satisfying to a
winemaker than the "thunk" of a cork
going into a bottle...except perhaps
the "pop" of it coming out!
As
with all our emails, there's always
some Good News/Bad News.
Bad
New: Spring Winemaking
For a bunch of reasons, we've
decided to put our spring winemaking
sessions on hold this year. One big
reason is that the Chilean supplier
seriously raised their grape
prices. Another reason is that,
until we get our new building, we
really want to focus our efforts on
our spectacular fall wines. We hope
those of you who wanted to make wine
this spring will join us in the fall
for some fun winemaking.
Good News: We've Got You Covered!
For all of you who wanted to make a
Malbec this spring, don't despair.
We've got a source of really nice
Malbec lined up for the fall. So if
you can wait a few more months,
we've got you covered!
May
Activities:
"Get on the Stagecoach" Wine
Tasting! (no date yet)
This is one of our most
popular events where you get to
taste some spectacular vintages that
we've made from Stagecoach Vineyards
grapes. Commercial wines made from
Stagecoach Vineyards grapes
can sell for
$60 to $200 a bottle. But
you can make the same thing at Tin
Lizzie for a fraction of the cost.
The only thing we ask as that you
bring your checkbook to this event.
We'll be signing folks up and
offering a special discount on
winemaking packages at this event.
June Activities:
Wine Sensory Analysis Workshop
(tentative)
Have you ever wondered how some
people can sniff a wine and say
things like, "I detect black
current, tobacco, barnyard aromas
and a hint of starfruit?" Yeah, me
too. But if you'd like to learn how
to do it, we're thinking about
offering a Wine Sensory Analysis
Workshop. A what? Instead of a
simple wine tasting, a sensory
analysis workshop trains your nose
to detect different aromas in
wines. I did one at UCDavis and
it's a lot of fun. And yes, there
will be wine drinking too.
This is still in the early planning
stages and I'm trying to gauge
interest. We'd probably have it
off-site and there would be a
nominal fee involved. Let me know
if you're interest.
